More new iPod Video news

Filed under: Ipod 5G Video, General News — James @ 11:30 am

Appleinsider has noted on its site that Apple resellers were notified approximately one month ago that the 60GB 5G iPod is on Apple’s 60 day “at risk” list.

This is only going to add to the rumours going around that Apple are going to unveil a new iPod Video in early April.

Appleinsider is claiming that when an item is placed on this list, it could mean that there will be changes to the product in the next 60 days — this includes replacements or price changes — this is designed to give retailers the opportunity to keep an eye on stock so they are not caught with old stock should a new product be released.

Apple’s 5G iPod was released on October 12, 2005 and represented the first iPod to support Video.

An iPod Video is expected to be launched alongside a Full length Movie download service at some point in 2006. We feel the new iPod will be an addition to the Apple family and this news shows gives credit to what we believe. Apple will drop the iPod Video 60gb to make way for a full screen iPod video. This would allow them to keep the rest of the iPod family unchanged and reduce the risk if the iPod Video is not as popular as former iPods.

With Apple recently taking a step into the iPod accessory market with the iPod Hi Fi we cannot see them ditching the accessory friendly designs they currently have.
