There is a lot of speculation that the 6th Gen iPod will be released in early August. The new iPod is expected to be smaller by up to one inch and will keep the same size screen as the current model. If a new iPod is released it is not expected to be the widely anticipated touch screen iPod.

A jogger was badly hurt while running during a storm.
The man from Vancouver, Canada was wearing an iPod was burned on his chest, neck and face after the man and a nearby tree were struck by lightning.
The man’s jawbone broke in four places and both jaw joints were dislocated, probably because the electric current made his jaw muscles contract violently.
The metal in the headphones helped channel the current and cause the injuries.
“Although the use of a device such as an iPod may not increase the chances of being struck by lightning, in this case, the combination of sweat and metal earphones directed the current to, and through, the patient’s head,” Doctors said.

Sony have released a new iPod speaker system.
The $100 ICF-C1iP clock radio works like other iPod-based clocks, offering a docking connector at the top. Also $100, the ZS-S2iP boombox includes a radio and CD player, and a retractable dock tray for the iPod. Both produces will be available in August in black and white colors.
“Consumers are treating the iPod as a format, like the compact disc, which is why Sony is now delivering audio products to support it,” said Sony director Andrew Sivori.
