Filed under: Other, General News — chris @ 3:17 pm

Apples stock fell yesterday from $107.89 to $103.42 after a website published a report that the iPhone and leopard would be delayed until January. News site engadget who published the story later added a retraction

“Here’s the story. A trustworthy source supplied us with an actual internal Apple email that went out to thousands of Apple employees earlier today (published after the break). The fact that this was an email sent within Apple’s internal email system to its employees is not in question. Let us reiterate: this was an ACTUAL email distributed within Apple’s internal email system to Apple employees.”

Apples shareholders were not amused as the Apple stock fell to a 52-week low. Apple have quoted to have launched an investigation into the incident and stated that both the iPhone and Laopard are on course for their original release date.

iPods interfere with Pacemakers

Filed under: Other, Ipod 5G Video, General News — chris @ 4:20 pm

A new report issued has stated that iPods can cause pacemakers to malfunction by interfering with the electromagnetic equipment monitoring the heart.

The study tested the effect of the portable music devices on 100 patients, whose mean age was 77, outfitted with pacemakers. Electrical interference was detected half of the time when the iPod was held just 2 inches from the patient’s chest for 5 to 10 seconds.

In some cases, the iPods caused interference when held 18 inches from the chest. Interfering with the telemetry equipment caused the device to misread the heart’s pacing and in one case caused the pacemaker to stop functioning altogether.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says Apple iPhone has no chance of gaining big market share

Filed under: Other, General News — James @ 8:38 am

Microsoft CEO and Apple enthusiast!! Steve Ballmer is continuing his Apple bashing this week. He states that the Apple iPhone is far to late to market and he would prefer to have 60% of phones using his software that 1-3% market share which he predicts Apple will get.

He does however see the iPhone making a lot of money for Apple and give them a lot of credit for spotting a huge opportunity in the iPod and dominating the music player market. He does however feel there is room from other MP3 players and the Zune.

“There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance,” Ballmer said. “It’s a $500 subsidized item. They may make a lot of money. But if you actually take a look at the 1.3 billion phones that get sold, I’d prefer to have our software in 60% or 70% or 80% of them, than I would to have 2% or 3%, which is what Apple might get.”
