Filed under: Other, General News — James @ 6:16 pm

Taiwanese phone maker BenQ claims Apple have been in talks with various Taiwanese manufacturers over the past few months regarding making and iPod based mobile phone. A BenQ executive commented that “An iPod phone is definitalely coming,” he BenQ will not be making the phone as they are in direct competition with Apple.

There have been rumours of an iPhone for months now but more recently several Analysts close to Apple say there is a 75% chance of the iPhone in the next 12 months.

We will keep you posted on any updates we have on the iPhone, if Apple are making it themselves then it should be a whole lot better than the ROKR released late last year.

More new iPod Video news

Filed under: Ipod 5G Video, General News — James @ 11:30 am

Appleinsider has noted on its site that Apple resellers were notified approximately one month ago that the 60GB 5G iPod is on Apple’s 60 day “at risk” list.

This is only going to add to the rumours going around that Apple are going to unveil a new iPod Video in early April.

Appleinsider is claiming that when an item is placed on this list, it could mean that there will be changes to the product in the next 60 days — this includes replacements or price changes — this is designed to give retailers the opportunity to keep an eye on stock so they are not caught with old stock should a new product be released.

Apple’s 5G iPod was released on October 12, 2005 and represented the first iPod to support Video.

An iPod Video is expected to be launched alongside a Full length Movie download service at some point in 2006. We feel the new iPod will be an addition to the Apple family and this news shows gives credit to what we believe. Apple will drop the iPod Video 60gb to make way for a full screen iPod video. This would allow them to keep the rest of the iPod family unchanged and reduce the risk if the iPod Video is not as popular as former iPods.

With Apple recently taking a step into the iPod accessory market with the iPod Hi Fi we cannot see them ditching the accessory friendly designs they currently have.

Vaja announce new iPod video cases

Filed under: Ipod 5G Video, General News — James @ 9:57 am

Vaja Cases have released two new iPod Video cases this week. The iVod Crystal has a padded interior, Swarovski-crystal-laden plush exterior, full access to ports and controls, and a leather strap for attaching to a bag or belt.

The iPod video SP also features a padded interior with full access to ports and controls, but has a leather exterior that you can customize with thousands of color combos, as there is a racing stripe down the middle of the case. The iVod Crystal is available for $340, and the iPod video SP is available for $90.

These are going to suit a very limited market as the price point is out of most peoples reach. Im not sure how popular they are going to be as in our opinion there are better products with a much more releastic price point.

Is corrie coming to the iPod Video?

Filed under: General News — James @ 11:01 am

One of the UK’s most famous Soap Opera’s could be coming to an iPod Video near you soon.

ITV chief Charles Allen was recently asked in an interview if ITV would offer episodes of popular shows for downloading to handheld portable devices, His reply simply was”It is well within our capability to do that.”

Apple’s iTunes Music Store has recently started offering video content, with US users able to download their favourite shows such as Desperate Housewives and The Office.

You can now also buy a season pass from iTunes which allows you to download a whole series for a discount price.

So hopefully the UK will start seeing a decent amount of UK shows on our iTunes. We believe that once a few shows launch on the UK iTunes it will have a rolling affect with other shows launching very quickly afterwards.
