Griffin Introduces iPod Shuffle Docking Station

Filed under: Other, ipod Shuffle, General News — chris @ 4:44 pm

Griffin has announced a new accessory for the iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen, the Griffin Dock adapter for iPod Shuffle.

“Your iPod shuffle is an incredible entertainment value in an incredibly small package. It delivers the music just like its full-size iPod cousins. But one thing it doesn’t do is fit in the dock well in your made-for-iPod speaker system.”

Tho dock will allow you to dock your iPod Shuffle into a speaker system that only accepts the larger iPods.

“That’s why we made a Dock Adapter especially for 2nd generation iPod shuffle. The Dock Adapter is shaped just like the dock connector on the bottom of every full-size iPod. Plug it into your iPod shuffle’s headphone jack, and suddenly the little guy fits in your iPod speakers just like the big guys.”

The Shuffle dock is a great idea, finally any one that owns a new shuffle has the choice of an iPod speaker and other iPod accessories.

Apple will launch its new iPod shuffle on Friday, the company said Tuesday.

The player, which Steve Jobs showed off at its most recent product launch in September, will contain a gigabyte of flash memory — enough for 240 songs, Apple said — and will be priced at $79.

“With its ultra-compact design and built-in clip, the new iPod shuffle is the most wearable iPod ever,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPod product marketing, in a statement. The new iPod shuffle completes our all-new lineup of iPods for this holiday season and beyond, and we hope it’s going to be a huge hit.”

Users can either listen to the songs in random order, or, by flipping a switch, they can listen to them in order.

Apple Releases iPod Shuffle Reset Utility

Filed under: ipod Shuffle, General News — chris @ 3:35 pm

Apple has released a utility that will completely fix all problems with the first gen Shuffle.

The iPod shuffle Reset Utility restores First Generation iPod shuffle. The restore process completely erases all music and data on iPod shuffle and reinstalls software version 1.1.4.

  • With the iPod shuffle switched on, pressing the Play button will cause amber and green LEDs to flash for a few seconds, and the unit will not play any music, nor can you sync music to it from iTunes.
  • On a Windows PC, iPod shuffle will appear in My Computer as a “Removable Disk,” however the iPod shuffle volume will not mount correctly. The unit is listed in Device Manager under “Disk Drives” as “Apple iPod USB Device.”
  • On a Mac, the unit will only be recognized in Apple System Profiler under Hardware -> USB and will not appear or mount in the Finder.
  • When attempting to restore, the unit may not be recognized at all. However, if it is recognized, the restore may fail with an error dialog “Firmware update failure. Disk write error” or another error. It may take 3 restore attempts before the error appears. Note: iPod shuffle may take several minutes to be recognized.

We also saw yesterday the launch of an updated version of the 5th Gen iPod which you could be forgiven for thinking was not really much of an update. The new iPod video will benefit from 30% brighter screens which have brightness controls and increased battery life.

Apple also launched a brand new iPod shuffle which has a very different design from previous models. The iPod shuffle will hold 1GB of songs and will retail at £55.

1GB iPod Shuffle Back in Stock

Filed under: ipod Shuffle, General News — James @ 2:12 pm

Back in December, Apple had posted a notice that the iPod Shuffle was out of stock, and wouldn’t return until mid Janaury, which lead to much speculation about Apple replacing the Shuffle at next week’s MacWorld.

We feel Apple are still going to release a new ipod Shuffle at Mac Expo and this is just a stop gap to keep customers happy who want a shuffle immediately. Keep checking back for updates from Mac Expo.

Leveraging soft, flexible sleeves that contour to the inside of the ear for the best possible fit and maximum comfort during wear, the E500 blocks outside noise to prevent it from interfering with the audio experience.
    * Low-Profile Industrial Design: This is miniature technology at its best with sleek styling, bronze metallic casing, and a unique over-the-ear design to keep cables out of the way.
