There is a rumour going around that the firmware in the iPod Classic (Version 1.1) could damage your headphones.
The problem is the firmware apparently causes an imbalance which sends residual electrical pulses through both the headphone jack and the docking connection. These pulses have been measured to be as high 500mv which it is claimed is high enough to upset attached equipment and potentially damage headphones.
At the moment this is just a rumour and Apple haven’t commented yet.
Skullcandy have released a new set of headphones that do away with the iPod.
The New headphones include a SD card slot, letting you plug your music straight into the headphones. They also have a USB port so you can drag and drop your music onto the SD card. Full control functions are on the outside of the cans.

Belkin will soon be releasing a headphone adapter for the iPhone.
The iPhone Headphone Adapter will allow you to connect any headset to your iPhone. Simply attach one end of the Adapter into the recessed audio jack of your iPhone, and the other into your existing headset.
At the moment there is no RRP but it would probably be between the £10-£15 mark as is the Griffin iPhone Headphone Adapter.
