Apple yesterday held a special event in San Francisco, Apple unveiled a total of 14 new iPod models.

This is the first time Apple have ever revamped their entire range at the same time. Yesterday they launched a new 2nd Generation iPod Nano which will now come in 5 colours Black, Silver, Pink, Blue and Green.

We also saw yesterday the launch of an updated version of the 5th Gen iPod which you could be forgiven for thinking was not really much of an update. The new iPod video will benefit from 30% brighter screens which have brightness controls and increased battery life.

Apple also launched a brand new iPod shuffle which has a very different design from previous models. The iPod shuffle will hold 1GB of songs and will retail at £55.

Give us your views on these new products as you get them. We have ordered a brand new Nano and will give our verdict once we receive this item.

  1. This looks awesome finally the nano that will not scratch if you put it in your pocket.

Does anybody know if old cases will work with this nano or will we need new ones?

  2. No cases will work with this as the headphone jack has moved accross and the dock is now different.

If you have a leather case with an open bottom that might work.

I looked at www.easyishop.co.uk they have a section but no cases yet.

  5. Went to Currys today to get a look close-up at the 8g Nano, and it is lovely. Will be buying online direct from Apple for the free engraving offer, but just wanted a look first. Assistant in the store told me that they’re waiting on delivery of the new 30g & 80g in the next week or so but I can’t find anything about it. Just want to be sure before spending £169 on a Nano if I can get a new 30g for only £20 or so more.
    Anybody know anything?

  6. I have a new 8GB Nano and its perfect, I did have an iPod Video 60GB but it broke and Apple wont mend it for me. Its a great bit of kit the new nano and does not scratch as easily as the old iPods but I still have a nice Belkin Flip case from easyishop for it.

I am not sure the new iPod Video is that much of an upgrade and with itunes 7 its much easier to manage the music on your nano than previously

  7. Thanks Dom, am being told the same from a friend who has the 30GB video & says he hardly uses any other function than music playback.
